OSHD attends ADM and Model year 2020 Kickoff in Milwaukee

This ADM (Annual Dealer Meeting) was not like the others.  Not only did H-D launch it's 2020 product and kick off it's first ever electric vehicle (Livewire™), but they showed off a slew of future product.  And to top it all off this historic event (the 100th anniversary dealer meeting) took place in Milwaukee, where it all began!73879841d7986abea850f7ed474db744_498b37fd61651f52.jpg

We took the scenic route to Milwaukee.  After landing just prior to a thunderstorm in Chicago, we all piled into a Ford Transit and drove across Illinois to LeClare Iowa, home of History Channel's American Pickers.  After witnessing Mike Wolfes collection of antique motorcycles including the Indian that was buried in Springfield, we sauntered over to the Buffalo Bill museum and the Steamship Lone Star, the last steam paddle-wheeler in service on the Mississippi.

Back in Milwaukee, we did a lighthouse tour before heading over to Miller Brewery.  From there we high-tailed it to the welcome reception at the Harley-Davidson Museum.  After finding our rivet and touring the public part of the museum we headed back to Racine to get some sleep and get ready for the ADM. 9af65b885cfe398e2b23912f59941e03_b9c78e9fcffefde5.jpg84e8fe17f8132a15050a3248ba3786d4_87702857227e529e.jpg

The next morning we were ready.  After the executive forum the show floor opened and thousands of dealers from all over the world poured in.  There was revealed the CVO Tri-Glide, the Low Rider S and the new Road Glide Limited.  New luggage, new parts collections and all the new features available on the 2020 bikes were showcased including the new Reflex™ Defensive Rider Systems (RDRS).  There were representatives and displays for much of the new product including StaCyc balance bikes for kids and the new custom Harley-Davidson Ford Trucks (wow!).  We couldn't stay too long we had to high-tail it over to the Harley-Davidson museum for a private behind the scenes tour of the archives.  It was in a word: A-Maz-Ing!!!!!!   Home late we worked orders and cooked dinner so we could be ready to head out early for the final day.

The crowd had thinned a bit on the second day.  After the DAC meeting we were able to dig-in and really work the show asking questions, making connections and getting a feel for what changes we can expect in 2020 and beyond.  Most interestingly, we were able to get our first close up look at future product.  The new Revolution-X engine is almost ready and several new platforms are coming with it.  Probably the most exciting is Pan-America, H-D's first foray into the dual sport arena since the Buell Ulysses several years ago.  This bike really has us excited not just because it looks super fun but because it will allow us to welcome a whole new group of riders to the H-D family.  Also exciting is the Street-Fighter with the same revolution-x engine, looks to be the answer to the customers that want a high performance urban assault vehicle.  We also got a good look at the new E-scooters, the electric assist bicycles and of course, the Livewire.  So many exciting new products!  There has never been this much new product to get excited about in all of our years of being a dealership!

We sadly left Milwaukee and headed home the next day.  In two quick days we managed to get it all done.  Fuelled by love for the brand and Culver's Frozen Custard.  Side note:  Can we get a Culver's Frozen Custard stand in Rhode Island?  Next door to the dealership would be a great spot.  We should really make that happen!
