The story of Billy, Bob, and a Harley-Davidson® Extended Service Plan:
Billy and Bob decided to take a weekend trip up to New Hampshire. Being good friends Billy and Bob had both purchased Road King® models the previous fall. The bikes were similar, both men had purchased a few accessories but only Billy had purchased a Harley-Davidson® Extended Service Plan (ESP).
Billy and Bob left Coventry around 7AM on Friday. The air was crisp but the ride was beautiful. Everything was going fine until the two men came upon a fresh automobile accident on an exit ramp only half way to their destination. The accident caused no human injuries but damage to both automobiles was significant. The exit ramp was covered with debris and within a couple of miles, both men had a flat rear tire.
Billy called for a tow truck and in a little while they were drinking coffee at the local Harley® dealer. The service writer summoned both men to his office and explained that the tires and rims on both bikes had been damaged and needed to be replaced. The estimate with labor was around $1050. Worse, the new wheels wouldn't arrive until Monday, ruining the whole weekend. At this time Billy remembered his Extended Service Plan with optional tire and wheel coverage.. He handed his card to the service writer, who smiled looking back at Billy and then to Bob: "Do you have one too?" he asked. Bob, still feeling like he landed on Park Place and didn't have any Monopoly money shook his head. Billy on the other hand, was already on his way to the rental counter to see if they had any Street Glides® left. "C'mon brother" said Billy, "we'll come back and get our bikes on Monday.”
From there things started looking up as Billy learned that his $1050 wheel replacement was completely covered by his ESP. He also found out that the $200 he just shelled out for towing would be reimbursed. ESP was going to give him $75 a day rental reimbursement, and since the rental wasn’t available until the next day he would be getting $150 a day for meals and lodging.
Meanwhile, Bob’s head was spinning. He had already spent $1250.00 more than he was planning and he hadn’t even added in the rental bike or tonight’s hotel. “I thought that Extended Service Plan didn’t start until after your warranty expired” he told Billy.
Billy wasn’t really listening, he was sitting on a new Street Glide® and picturing himself cruising through the mountains, listening to the radio.
The moral of the story? Be like Billy and cruise with only one care in the world... enjoying your ride!
All new Harley-Davidson® motorcycles come with a two year limited factory warranty. The day after your factory warranty expires, H-D® ESP will provide coverage for over 1,100 parts with only a $50 deductible.
Initially, Harley-Davidson® Extended Service Plans are available for up to 7 years from the purchase date of a new motorcycle.
While on the road, if your motorcycle has a mechanical breakdown, call the number on your H-D® Extended Service Plan card. The fine folks on the other end will direct you to the nearest Harley-Davidson® dealer.
ESP also includes:
$200 for the tow to a H-D® dealer.
$75 per day for a rental vehicle.
$150 per day for meals and lodging if you are stuck awaiting a repair.
Optional tire and wheel coverage. All damaged parts will be replaced up to the cost of the original equipment with no deductible. These benefits start day one and are available even when the factory warranty is in effect.
Also, you can enjoy the benefits of the future contract guarantee which could keep you and your motorcycle covered up to 14 years!
Contracts can be transferred for free and can increase resale and trade value. Therefore, when you finally sell your beautiful machine to the ever adoring neighbor, along with the motorcycle goes the H-D® ESP contract.
ESP can be purchased for any bike while the original factory warranty is active. So if your bike is still under warranty it’s not too late! Surcharge may apply.
